I've been steadily working on another stitchery piece for my Big Cartel shop. It's been listed and has sold - yah! I am working on more pieces (in a different style this time) but it is very time-consuming work and my Etsy shop has been sadly neglected. Too many apples in this basket ;) I think I need to refine my scope or something... Hope you've had a creative week? Playing along with Christina's Made by Hand meme - pop over to see more handmade goodness :)
It's so beautiful! And do you know what I think, in terms of redefining your scope - prints. I think you need to scan and print these gorgeous pieces so that you can sell the one piece over and over again and ask for more for the original. I also think you should hold on to them until you have several and then exhibit them at a gallery like Artisan.
It's such a beautiful marriage of fine art and craft, and one that appeals to so many. It's a beautiful concept that you can really play with and push. You have developed a recognisable style and I think this could be a really great vehicle to display the elements of that style. xx
Thanks Christina :) I did think of that but I'll have to experiment. Also, seeing as they've gone I only have the photos I've already taken and that could be problematic ;) Anyway, thank you so much for your lovely words :) Kx
i agree with Christina! the thing i found with scanning embroidery floss stitching on paper is the reflection the shiny part makes looks a bit over exposed. matte stitching scans well. maybe photos of the shiny ones would work better? they are really fantastic xx
Balancing time between the simple, easy to produce (and therefore keep in stock) projects and the more time-consuming ones can be a real challenge. This one looks like it takes a HUGE amount of time, but I can see your heart and soul in it! :)
congratulations! your work should sell fast...it's truly stunning.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristin :) Kx

DeleteHmm..I love this, and I love it for the texture it provides. I don't know if it would work so well as a print
ReplyDeleteThanks Sara :) Yes, some experimenting is needed. Kx

Thanks Belinda :) I did give it a go, and yes, exactly as you said - the neon stitching overexposes. No worries, though. It is what it is ;) Kx
