Holidays
Well, the winter holidays are over again for another year. I always look forward to this
break... it gets cold at just the right kind of nice hereabouts. It's the best time of year to go
to the beach (in my very biased opinion) and we try to escape up to the mountains too for
bush walks and evenings in front of the fire :)

I managed to slip in some painting time and crochet time, just experimenting with different
ideas.

And I found some beautiful Australia native flora to sketch some day... hopefully soon :)

We had some beautiful crystal clear days up at the mountains too... soaking in this amazing
view again.

Hope you've had a good break too?
Back to work time now... I have some new pieces I'll be listing soon so stayed tuned :)

Mini break :)

I've just returned from a quick little holiday to Sydney. It was raining and we had to negotiate
with the wants of two teenage daughters but I did manage to visit my favourite favouritest
Sydney destination, The Museum of Contemporary Art :) Love this place...

Sorry for the lack of attributions (and of course the dodgy photography!). Just wanted to post
a visual postcard of what I saw :)

Hope it's been a good week for you too.

Living in a Cloud :)
We're in the last week of school holidays here... time for jobs to be done. The first week or so
was all about fun, like visiting Melbourne and my newest baby niece :) It was also about
escaping to the mountains for pure rest. It's been quite overcast and rainy here, so we were
shrouded in cloud at the mountains. It was so relaxing :)
This is the only shaft of sunlight we saw the whole time...

But mostly, it was like this... living in a cloud :)

On our way back we (finally!) stopped off at IKEA and I bought a height-adjustable table for
screen printing - yah! I've been having terrible back problems from always leaning over
regular tables to print fabric... do you get that too? I'm hoping this will make a big difference :)

No prizes for guessing where the idea came from :)

An Easter break
Don't you just love the Easter break? We went to the mountains and did lots
of bushwalking. I also did a fair chunk of crochet for a bed throw project I've been
meaning to start on for a while. Such a wonderful mini-break.
Hope you had fun too :)

Making Macaroons
The big girl has wanted to make macaroons for a long time now. When we were in Paris
we'd returned and it was the big *squeal* surprise in her Christmas sack...
and now she's making...
... and now we're eating :)

Happy New Year!
Look at that... It's 2013 already! Happy New Year!
Already it's a funny kind of year, this 2013... I feel as if holidays are over
already (for us Brisbane southern hemisphere-ers we're on summer holidays
until the end of January) and I'm getting organised for the year ahead.
I feel buzzed... and that's kind of weird for me :)
Loving this super duper clipboard below... I can only hope that this
buzz lasts me through the year because I have plenty of super duper
things in the planning :)
What about you? Are you still comfortably winding down with the summer
haze or have you hit the new year running? What are your plans for 2013?

Happy Holidays!
Thanks so much for supporting Paravent in its first year... what a year
of changes and new beginnings! I'm looking forward to 2013, how about you?
Hope you have a fun and safe time! :)

Empress' new clothes
Sorry I haven't been around for a while. It's the crazy season here... end of year
madness with so many things going on. I've also had my big girl go off to China
so there's been a bit of pointless fretting too. But then suddenly I had this idea... and
I began measuring and cutting and sewing... and I made myself a dress and a top.
The idea was to have something cool to wear in the meltingly hot temperatures we've
been having but, as always, it seems I can't get away from being the queen of black ;)
It's a silly vanity, but I sewed some paravent labels on them too.

So many things I should be doing instead...
Hope the beginning of your holiday season has been fun :)

Home again... hello!
Back again after two lovely weeks away with the fam. What's been happening in
your world? I'll be getting back into the swing of things soon (including catching up
on my blog roll). In the meantime, here's some homemade postcards of our trip...
Part of the trip was work and I have quite a bit to do re the family business now that
we're back so I may not post again for a few days. This was just to say " Hi! Hope all
is going well for you :) " I'll be visiting soon.
