I've been steadily working on a ripple ombre blanket for a few weeks now.
First photo at two colours...
It progressed nicely through three colours...
and then four colours...
I'm up to the fifth and final colour now...
Desperately hoping the intended recipient will like it and starting to have misgivings
about the second colour... what do you think? To me, it suddenly dulls the whole blanket.
Wondering if I can somehow take out the second colour and invisible stitch the natural
and the light turquoise together... has anyone ever tried this?
Risky business ;)
Also, there's a giveaway a-happening from the crafty collaboration between
myself and Pippa from Ouchflower if you'd like to enter :)
Hello there, I'm thinking it is the dark navy that is jarring your design, unless you consider having that last navy panel in thinner stripes of all the colours, the repetition of all the colours would unify the design, maybe?
ReplyDeleteI do love a ripple blanket, such a labour of love. Must get you macraming, they are very similar! :)
Hope your well! P x
Are you joking? Number two colour is my favourite. Any way if they don't like it, just remember I love it and am moving to a new big draughty house and need to be kept warm......
ReplyDeleteI love it Kylie.
ReplyDeleteThey are all 'my' colours!X
I love them all, real sea colours!
ReplyDeletep.s. I have a yarny giveaway on my blog today :-)
Oh no! Leave it alone I say! I think that an interesting mix of colours is part of the charm of crochet. Nothing too perfectly perfect or it would be boring. :)
ReplyDeleteI like it as it is, in fact, as Flaming Nora says, no2 is my fave too. Love the ripple effect - goes with the sea colours. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha, its my fave too! Beautiful job x
ReplyDeleteI think its utterly perfect the way it is, and you should not change a thing xo
ReplyDeleteKylie, I am afraid I have to agree with the others here. It are all sea colors, they sort of belong together. The blanket looks beautiful, it really does!
ReplyDeleteOh I think it is divine! What a beautiful gift...it will be cherished.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely to have found your blog. I'm off to have a cup of tea and a potter around your lovely space.
Wishing you a happy Friday.

I love it too, and think it looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteYes, it can be done, if you must, but I quite like it just as it is. It really depends how very bright you really want it to be. The "dull" isn't really a bad thing, when you see the whole together, unless you're wanting something less muted.... Either way, very pretty!
ReplyDeleteIt's fantastic! I think the colors and soft wave design are very peacful and soothing.
ReplyDeletepleeeease don't take that colour out!! i love it. the contrast between slightly dull and bright adds to the brights, i think! makes me want to make one xx
ReplyDeleteHi Kylie..I think that lovely green adds a real depth to the colours..it's a real sea and sand blanket. The sea often looks green and then blue in different tones with the yellow of sand.
ReplyDeleteHello Kylie this is my first visit to your lovely blog and I must say how much i love the ombre effect of this blanket, it's stunning! Now, why didn't I think of that! xox Very inspiring indeed. Keep it just the way it is, its beautiful x Penelope
ReplyDeleteFantastic. You really do have the bestest ideas Kylie.
ReplyDeleteThat colour is the 'quirk'. The unexpected 'edge' bit. Thoroughly lovin' it!
ReplyDeletefor me you also don't have to get rid of that part! the navy makes it all up i think! great job kylie! i'm sure that person will be very very happy!
