grinding halt.
It's got to the stage where I actually prefer the back of the piece! (Well, to be fair, I do always
like the back of stitchery... but should I actually prefer it?)
Anyway, enough moaning. Just saying that this piece has been shelved for a while... maybe
a long while ;)
If you have any ideas, comments are very welcome :)
Umm, I actually like the back of it better too - so why not do the switch... or make it reversible?
ReplyDeletehaha :) Yes, it's come down to that, hasn't it? Thanks Rie. Kx
DeleteYes me too I like the back more, but then like you I always like the back of embroideries more. Not really an answer to this one except do what you are doing and shelve it for a while, then may be your enthusiasm will return.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jane :) Kx
DeleteThere is always something very lovely about the back of stitching - like revealing the man behind the curtain in the wizard of oz - it reveals the process and in doing so it reveals the person. My mum always told me the test of good stitching was the neatness of the back and I have a fine tapestry from a great aunt that is almost IDENTICAL front and back...which fries my brain! Great work! Keep stitching!
ReplyDeleteOh no, now I'm embarrassed about the back too! haha I wouldn't exactly call it 'neat stitching' ;) but then that's what I love about it - it's chaos. Thanks for commenting. Kx
DeleteI'm the same Kylie. How difficult it is to get perspective when we are so close to what we're working on. Definitely though the front - much more layered. great name for it too btw :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo :) I am happy with the layering, but there's always a 'but' whenever I think something good about it ;)
DeleteI know this sounds wanky – it's like this piece works intellectually but just doesn't come together visually... does that make sense? big sighs here ;) x
both sides are lovely;
ReplyDeletedifficult to choose Kylie!
I think I just need space from it Renilde. Thanks for visiting :) Kx
