Creative Space: Blue

New electric blue patterns are now new electric blue tea towels :)

In my shop too. I think I'll do up some fat quarters next.

Blue Monday

I've been working on some new designs... and, strangely, they've all been
inspired by colour. I'm so in love with this electric blue at the moment.

This simple Harlequin block printed pattern came first...

... then this one, another block print, which I'm calling Seismograph
(for obvious reasons)...

... and lastly, a screen print and block print combination which was totally unplanned
and just evolved as I cut out the screen. Not sure what to call this, so at the moment
it has the highly unimaginative name of Leaves and Thorns ;)

They've all been printed onto white linen tea towels and I'll probably be listing them
in my Etsy shop soon. If you have a better name for this last one I'd love to hear it.
Hope it's a good week for everyone :)

Creative Space: New things

It feels like a million new things have happened this week...

On the weekend I finished putting together a new book bag prototype, made
from last week's new fabric. So I was thinking about book bags + printing up some
new lining and I started experimenting with the background block to another design
of mine from last year. I changed it a bit (two dots) and I printed by lining up the pattern...

I rather like it. In fact, I don't think I'll be using it as a lining... I think it needs more
work; another layer perhaps - but not like the old pattern, something softer. I may
have tickets on myself* here but it looks a bit Mina Perhonen to me! :)

A funny thing my eyes kept falling on while I was printing... a part of an ad on the
newspaper I was using as table protection... "A well fitted suit is a dream of every
man and a woman..." What? Only one woman?? ;)

Something else I put together this week... thank you cards to include with purchases from
my Etsy store. I made use of the 'flooded' tea towel, cutting it up and sewing the panels
on card. By the way, I have two new tea towels in my Etsy store now :)

Hope you've had a fabulously creative week? You can see more spaces here.

*to have tickets on yourself... Be conceited, have a high opinion of yourself—

Creative Space: Toe tapping + Tote making

I've had these panels screenprinted, cut out and embroidered for ages...
It took a friend's birthday and me with no gift for them to be jettisoned to the
top of the 'to do' list. One finished tote...

Strangely, this was completed pretty much without a hitch... Everything else
I've put my hand to this week has been a dismal failure. I'm feeling better now
but I think it was the cold I had that impaired my judgement.

Background artwork is a print by Karl de Waal "The Step Ladder of Incompetence" ;)

The blanket is once again in bits waiting for me to construct yet again...
and some screenprinting of tea towels I foolishly attempted are destined to be
cut up and hopefully reused at some point in the future.

Talk about flooding the screen! The photos really don't show how blobby
they are... Hopefully, I'll have some sharper prints in the shop by next week.

So, it was a win some / lose some kind of week here.
Hope it's been a more productive one for you?
